Community Support during Covid-19

During these uncertain times of social distancing we would like to ask the communities that if you would wish to write or draw any pictures or letters our residents would love to receive these through the post.

Statement of Purpose

Prospect house is a select family run residential Home in the village of Swinefleet.

The Home is close to the local church and bus routes to the nearby town of Goole.

It provides residential care for 25 elderly clients, both male and female.

Prospect House does not provide nursing care.

Prospect House is registered for Service users requiring residential care and dementia/EMI care.

Prospect House has been recognised as an Investor in People and has also achieved the Quality Development Scheme part 1 & part 2.

The Home has 23 single rooms and a double room, 10 of which have ensuite facilities. All bedrooms have fitted carpets and furniture in keeping with the home.

All bedrooms are fitted with privacy locks and service users privacy and dignity is maintained at all times with staff knocking on the door before entering and respecting each individuals needs and preferences with regard to their care.

All the bedrooms and communal living spaces comply with the National Minimum Standard size.

The décor in the Home is tastefully and pleasantly furnished.

Clients are encouraged to personalise their own rooms with their own possessions where reasonably possible, (subject to Health and Safety legislation).

We have a high level of cleanliness.

All rooms have a Call Bell system and Movement Detection system.

For added security and safety to both clients and staff, a camera system covers the building perimeter and internal corridors. 

The Home is accessible to wheelchair users and has a passenger lift, which is regularly serviced.

There are three comfortable lounges each with televisions and music.

Clients are encouraged to to pursue chosen activities and there is a wide range of social activities  to offer in the Home.

The Home has a pleasant garden to the rear which is secure.

Outings are arranged weather permitting.

Clients are encouraged to maintain regular contact with family and friends. Clients may entertain visitors in their own rooms or the garden. Visitors may take service users on outings, however, it is asked that clients return to the home at a reasonable time.

The local library visit the Home regularly offering books, audio books and music discs.

Fresh wholesome food is served daily, specialised diets can be arranged, snacks and hot/cold drinks are available on request.

Visitors are welcome and treated with utmost respect. the Home has a visitors policy and all visitors are asked to make themselves aware of its contents

Outside agency visits can be made on request e.g. Hairdresser, chiropodist, Minister of Religion etc.

The Home has monthly visits from the local clergy, however different pathways can be catered for as much as is reasonably practicable.

The Home fees do not include private chiropody, dentistry and opticians costs (if applicable), hairdressing or other therapeutic activities outside of the realm of the care team. The cost of personal affects, private telephone lines and bills are to be met by the client. Details of the fees and other services can be viewed at the back of this guide.

Each client has the right to access Health care e.g. Primary Care, GP's and District Nurses.

Care from Prospect House is determinant on a combination of factors and a unique care package will be developed to accommodate the requirements of the client. The dynamic process of the care provided begins with an initial assessment of need; through referral from Social Services or private enquiry. Where possible, the Manager, will visit the potential client in their own home or in hospital and carry out a thorough assessment. If the Home can meet the requirements for the individual, confirmation of a place in the Home will be via letter.

On admission a unique care package will be devised for the individual with their input where possible or that of a representative. The care package is reviewed monthly and reassessment of need is carried out when required.

Quality assurance questionnaires and audits are carried out at least annually. Funded individuals will receive an annual review from Social Services, private individuals will receive an annual in-house review.
