The right to a chosen life style. This right should be removed by the use of legal powers only in the most exceptional circumstances. 

The right to make an active contribution to community life & have a social, emotional, religious & cultural needs accepted & respected wherever an elderly person chooses to live.

The right to exercise some control & choice in relation to services available to elderly people.

The right to information about the range of public services available to elderly people.

The right to exercise some control & choice in relation to services provided –even if this means allowing risks to be taken.

The right to a competent assessment & review of individual needs.

The right to personal privacy in residential care.

A right to refuse or complain about services, right of access to an advocate able to provide representation on an impartial basis.
